Week 7 - ATP 250 - Argentina Open - Buenos Aires (clay)

L32:  (6) Kyle Edmund WR 26 (= CH) vs (SE) Roberto Carballes (ESP) WR 107 (CH = 95 in August 2016)

There is no head-to-head.  The top seed is Dominic Them.

There is but it's probably not very relevant - they met in R2 of a 10K Futures event in Murcia (wonder if Bob was there) back in 2013 - RCB won 6-2 2-6 6-0. It is a tricky draw for a seed - the Spaniard is currently playing in the semi-finals of this week's ATP in Quito, hence the SE.

Should have said at ATP tour level.

Do the head-to-head stats not include ITF Futures matches ?  I seem to remember Kyle playing Carballes before.

Fair enough Bob was indeed there - his report was well-received britishtennis.activeboard.com/t52675822/week-8-spain-f3-10000-murcia-clay/

Edit: That was a pretty impressive triple post cross biggrin

Not if you click on the draw on the ATP live scoreboard.  I was too lazy when I posted to check Steve G.  I just have &, curiously, his name comes up if you search for him as a player, but not if you try the head-to-head with a second player, so I really don't know the answer to that question!  confuse

Given all the time you put in to listing all the matches, "SC" and "lazy" are two words that I would NEVER put in the same sentence biggrin

One mock done, quick tennis break, make dinner, one more mock, sleep - it's all under control wink

Carballes is of course in the final in Quito ATP 250 tomorrow so will play kyle in form but also tired. Makes it an interesting draw.

Yes.  He has already taken out his own CH ranking and stands at WR88 in the the live rankings. A win in the final would take him to about WR75.

He has not had the toughest of draws so far this week though.

L32: Gaio WR 247

L16: Lorenzi WR 46

QF: Jarry WR 95

SF: Martin: WR 156

I would back Kyle to beat any of those players as well on current form.  The final might be tougher against Ramos Vinolas.

I have in fact seen Carballes play twice. Firstly in the well publicized match against Kyle (see links in thread) but also in Madrid against James Ward.  In each case, he was like a brick wall and everything came back.  I seem to remember against Wardy he had only 3 UEs in one set, despite numerous long rallies.  He is definitely tough to play against.

Carballes has just beaten Ramos Vinolas 6-4 in the 3rd to win his first title at ATP level. Congrats to him and I hope he is exhausted by the time he gets to Buenos Aires.

Carballes took that Quito title and so goes into play kyle having won a tour title ahead of him
