Yes that was a great, no nonsense performance from Smitkova, particularly in the latter stages of the match, hitting the ball flat, hard and in, as blob noted. Hard for Eden to stay with her at all during the second set though she had some odd flashes. Lost 4-6 1-6 and can be happy with the 9 points. Maia was certainly not disgraced to lose to Smitkova in the first round, she has the ability to win the tournament.
They're great at getting to finals together, not so good at converting that into titles.
1-7 in finals together
Something positive for Tara though, and we'll take that from any directiona it may come right now.
But, I think this scuppers her chances of making any sort of entry in Surprise next week, an even in which she has a good record, including her best title.

Data I post, opinions I offer, 'facts' I assert, are almost certainly all stupidly wrong.
I watched a fair bit of their match aginst Beth and Olivia, and to be honest I wasn't that impressed with their form, and thought they were lucky to get through.
Well one thing Maia can now claim is having lost to the winner of both the last two week's GB 25k tournaments. Just unfortunate that this week's loss happened to take place in R1 rather than the final, as last week. Tereza Smitkova has just beaten Conny Perrin comfortably 6-3 6-2 to take the title.
