week 6 - ITF ($25K) - Launceston, Australia Hard

Another fantastic tournament. Get it there.

3 $25K Titles in the last 12 months
3/3 in $25K finals

That puts Gabi in exalted company: Amongst Brits this millennium, only Annie, Bally, Hev, Naomi B & Johanna have managed 3 or more titles at $25K level or above within the space of 12 months.
They also have one other striking thing in common!

Yay

A very impressive week and Gabi's third 25K title in the last 9 months. A winner !

Her updated 232 points should take her into the top 240 on Monday week.

That 232 points is 150 from these 3 25K titles plus 82 from her other 13 counters. Stay fit and well and get in other good counters to join these titles and she can continue to really move up the rankings.

French Open qualifying looks a good target. She only has 36 points in total due off before that cut-off date.

Gabi now has more $25K+ titles in her careeer to date than do, or did achieve: Tara, Sam, Naomi Cav, Laura R, Georgie Stroop, Louise Latimer, Lucie Ahl
She is tied on 3 with: Mel South, Julie Pullin & Katie O'Brien

Gabby does look like a very good prospect for us. Fully expect her to be in the FED cup team next year.

Short term goal should be French Open qualifying.

That's another great result for Gabi, and her unbeaten run is now at 10 wins. She is down for the next two 25ks in Perth the next two weeks - a long flight across Australia that - and then it will be interesting to see her schedule following that. There are further tournaments in Australia, but none the week of 26 Feb (the week after the Perth two), and there is only one that is higher than 25k, a 60k in Canberra week of 19 March. That maybe too long for Gabi to hang around for, but it will be interesting to see what all their schedules are (Katy D, Laura, as well as Gabi), and how Gabi looks to test herself at the next steps level in the coming months.

Gabi's progress in $25K's 2017-18

Just an exercise in floating bar chart automation put to some use.

Great graphic, illustrates Gabi's impressive one year improvement wonderfully. And now, what is the coming year's graphic going to show?

I'm delighted to see Gabi performing so well but not surprised. I predicted her to make top 200 by the end of this year, but what I thought was a bold prediction is now looking a bit conservative!

Gabby' second $25K title in a row and she won this one without dropping a set.

Blob....sorry if you've explained this elsewhere, but on your chart of 25K+ titles since 2000;  what does it mean when a player appears twice in a box?  Eg in Year 2002, Bally appears twice in the 25K box once with one dot after her name and once with 2 dots.  It happens quite in different spots in the chart so is obviously intentional and means something.

Not blob, so this is a guess:

The blobs are that players number of wins: one blob, first win at that level, two blobs second win at that level: empty blobs indicate how many wins at that level they have: so EB blob circle circle circle circle means that this was Ms Baltacha's first win of five. Two in the same box means two wins at that level that year.

I think.

That's a brilliant stat! (and your 25K graph is a work of art) - do you tweet stuff like this too? If so, I need to follow you and RT a few ... if not, hopefully you wouldn't mind me tweeting one or two of your stats, crediting you as "a blob on the forum" wink or similar.
