Battle of two former junior #1's was not especially competitive; done in 54 minutes, Laura's second serve vulberable.
But, Gabi continues to impress. I just like her moxie, the way she carries herself on court reminds me a bit of Svitolina, it has purpose and belief, and is backed up by the resultant actions.
She's certainly hit the ground running in 2018
She'll face the in-form Zoe Hives WR 278, or Qualifier, Shuko Aoyama, who generally plies her trade these days in doubles on the WTA tour (doubes world 29), but dropping down to ITF for singles is no mug, and her current singles of WR351 is only really a reflection of her not playing much singles rather than her ability at this level.
