Hooray! Our only representatives in the MD of a home event one tier above the bottom rung possible are 4 WC!
Well, at least as Maia has drawn Jodie, we're guaranteed a win!
Freya in good form might trouble Grammatikopolou - Freya ain't in good form.
Eden against Badosa Gibert could be interesting though.

Yes, if there is indeed an arguable policy of ( supposedly ! ) tailoring the few home tournaments that there are to the current group of players then it has all gone a bit awry with Glasgow with the strength of field.
Unfortunate that Grenoble 25K switched back a week and left Glasgow as even more a go to event for so many Europeans. Loughborough will now share that stage with Grenoble.

Loughborough is a little better - but not much. Tara is the top Brit (apart from Harriet who is entered this time) at 7th in the qualifying entry list, instead of 14th.
Still, we could go on and on about this .......... going to take a miracle to change the system !
Well second set, Freya shot into a 5-1 lead, then Gramma etc held her serve, to leave Freya serving for the match at *5-2... and she promptly went 0-40 down. She saves 2 of the 3 BPs, but not the third. So now 6-4 5-3*, second set.
Much toing and froing in that final game. Gramma has game points and Freya at least one match point before she takes another - 6-4 6-3

Maia is now the second Brit through, 7-6(5) 6-4 against Jodie. Maia was 4-1 up in the last, but then Jodie regained one break back, and evened up the set at 4-4. After holding, Maia broke Jodie again in the final game. Both had iffy serving and I imagine Maia will have to improve here if she is to progress further.
