Week 5 - ITF ($60K) - Burnie, Australia, Hard

The main draw is out now and relatively good draws for all our three. Ironically, even though she is the seeded player, Katie B will face the highest ranked player in the first round. All three though are higher ranks than their opponents.

L32: Katie BOULTER (GBR) [8] 196=CH vs Jaqueline Adina CRISTIAN (ROU) 226=CH 19 yrs (JCH:30 Jan 16)

L32: Katy DUNNE (GBR) 277 vs Miyabi INOUE (JPN) 321 (CH:275 Sept 15)

L32: Laura ROBSON (GBR) 227 vs Qualifier

Steven has a 1-1 H2H listed for Katy D vs Miyabi: L 4&5 Ahmedabad 2015, W 5&2 Kurume 2016

In the doubles Laura is playing with Vania King (USA) and they are the 3rd seeds.
Katy Dunne is playing with Olga Rogowska (AUS)

Softer field this year than last:

Last year, all our entrants were in qualies - Freya, Katie B & Katy - and only Katy won a match, and it was just the one win.
The 2017 Aussie tour was pretty slim pickings overall for most of our aspirants. Hopefully this year will start, and continue, more profitably.

Katy's 1st serve won % dropped from 71% in the first set to just 37% in set 2.
As a consequence, she was broken in all five services. The set only contained one hold of serve.
7-6(3) 3-6

Laura & Vania have won their R1 doubles match 6-3 6-0.

I see that Vania & Jennifer Brady reached the Aus Open QF, beating Barty & Dellacqua along the way. So already this year in her latest comeback Vania has shown that doubles form again.

Looking at the momentum graphs for Katy's doubles match, it looks as if the same player was broken all three times, and also served all three double faults.
