Life on Tour

Telegraph running a series of articles about the reality of the tennis tour:

 1) Life at Futures level http://www.telegraph.co.uk/tennis/2018/01/09/truth-behind-pro-tennis-away-elite-cheating-claims-financial/

Features Jay Clarke, Marcus Willis, Naomi Cavaday among others

2) Mental health in tennis http://www.telegraph.co.uk/tennis/2018/01/10/special-report-mental-health-issues-tennis-not-top-50-face-constant/

features naomi again, Nicole Gibbs and others

Apparently a third article due tomorrow about social media abuse and tennis

Article no.1 is good. Interesting insights. As I recently said, the life a Futures player is ripe for a fiction book or play, with all its extraordinary circumstances. But not much sympathy coming in from the Telegarph comments section so far.

Article no.2. Mental health is very important. But I can't read any more Nicole Gibbs. It's possible to have too much of a good thing. Give me Naomi Cavaday, for that topic and any other. And Gibbs was overheard telling our favourite British player with PNG heritage to eff off during a singles match they contested. Just before or after they played doubles together in that tournament. So mark against her. I'm sure she's still oh so very special compared with everyone else on tour though. At least in her own mind.
