Indeed, Eurosport gives you a month subscription for £7.
If you're going to watch a fair bit of the Aussie open (or even just one match!), it seems to rude to illegally stream it when it's so cheap, really.
I think you have to put a bet on every three months to keep your viewing privilege. Anyway, so yesterday I put a bet on for Liam to win in three sets, and won £15. Thatll fund the rest of the years viewing!
Didn't know that, Nix. But given you can bet 10p, it's hardly an onerous burden to do once every three months !
And well done on Liam
Now what about Kyle at 3.4?
Its definitely tempting. Do you think its decent odds? I thought 3-1 was pretty good odds for Liam to win in three sets. I hope he appreciates my confidence in him.
On a different note, did people see that Mischa Zverev was fined AUD 45,000 for retiring early on in his first round match? That's practically his whole R1 prize purse. Nothing dodgy at all. Just that they don't want players turning up injured, playing a few games, and walking off with the cheque.
I thought that they were bringing in a new rule about that, and letting them have half the money if they turned up on site and the rest to the LL to stop this sort of thing happening?

I thought it was very harsh considering he was ill and not injured

They have and apparently 3 or 4 people did withdraw ahead of their matches and received the half payment. Zverev was the only person who dropped out of a first round match relatively early in it, which was why he was fined this way.

Ah, thanks, that makes sense now. Well serves him right.
The AO final 4 reminds me a lot of Wimbledon 1996. That was probably the last time we had such a strange last 8/4 field. Back then, Sampras lost to Krajicek in the quarters (fed didnt lose today to Berdych) and left a semis field of Krajicek v Stoltenberg and Washington v Todd Martin. We all know Krajicek went on to win that win and Mal Washington and Todd Martin tried their best to both lose their semi before Washington prevailed in the 5th set.
But the field and degree to which they are unknowns etc seems similar to this weeks turnouts and I cant recall anything else like it in the intervening 20 or so years??

Yes that does seem very harsh and not really what the quite sensible new system was about.
Obviously the best outcome here is that GOAT Federer beats Kyle in a classic final, but let's see.
There are still some unfortunate lingering doubts that the GOATs Grand Slam total could be surpassed by Nadal the GCOAT (C doesn't stand for claycourter).
Therefore we need GOAT to take his 20th and Kyle to make a final many doubted he'd ever have in him.

Obviously?
I would have thought that Kyle beating anyone in the final 0, 0 & 0 would be the best outcome.
Anyway, if Kyle was still 22 ( he turned 23 on 08/01 ) he would be live #3 ranked under 23 behind Zverev and Kyrgios with Chung at #4. Probably others will come on the scene, notably young Shapovalov, but these would be an interesting and diverse four to in time have around the top of the game if they continue to develop.
As it is, he is live #4 U24 with Chung #5, behind additionally Pouille.
And live #5 U25 with Chung #6, with Thiem then additionally ahead.
The live race positions are now : 1. Cilic, 2. Chung, 3. Edmund, 4. Federer. So Kyle could be back race #1 ( and GB ranked #1 ) after the SFs and Kyle vs Fed then playing for longer term race #1 though it might not be the top thing in their thoughts
