Given the fact Kyle has now come through two 5 setters this week, I am beginning to think that pulling out of Auckland last week has proved to be a real benefit for him, so perhaps with hindsight, that tweak of his ankle in Brisbane has to some extent been a blessing in disguise.

What a great win!

Last year was consolidation as a genuine ATP player ie defending the points he won on the challenger tour playing only 250s or better ie. generally the MD first round is found to pitch you against a player of challenger final standard or better. This run is a great start to building a rank where he is seeded in the GS MD or even better in the 1000s.

Life gets much easier in terms of focusing on finer adjustments once his schedule becomes more predictable because of a better rank and he can let others open up the draw for him.

Yep, top 40 gets you into all the masters events or 500's and these points stay there all year. Gives a real solid basis for an important year for him. Davis Cup in Spain will be a big opportunity for him to lead the team and have our hopes pinned in his shoulders, he will need to win both matches of course, but looks like he will relish the challenges ahead

Not the best quality match but understandable given the extreme heat. Its these types of matches that really boost the confidence because it was a real battle out there and to come through in that manner was very good.

Im also very happy that Kyle will be facing Seppi rather than the serve robot Karlovic in the fourth round.

Kyle has a great chance to get to the quarter finals .

Kyle and Seppi have played just once, 15 months ago in Antwerp when Kyle won in straight sets. Different time and place but Kyle has improved since then and Seppi is older. Not writing him off but Kyle has a good chance here. Mustnt blow it

Cracking win! I turned out the light fearing the worst, even though he'd won the first set tie-break. Oh me of little faith! wink

I know Big Ivo's knocking on a bit at 38 (39 next month), but Seppi's no spring chicken at 33. Sadly, he was only on court for 17 minutes longer than Kyle in that match.

Kyrgios v Dimitrov

Got to fancy a Spanish semifinalist in top half, PCB will see off Cilic I feel. Kyrgios v Dimitrov will be a cracker and if Kyle can get through to meet either of those, he really has nothing to lose!
