Is it indoor? I thought this was outdoor?

I did wonder, but was persuaded (the wrong way, clearly!) by this comment about the venue on the tournament web site to leave it as indoor:

The Khalifa International Tennis & Squash complex complies in its inside 24 courts and all the necessary elements to host the most prestigious and biggest tennis tournaments in the world.

That said, I've edited the subject line.

This is the same place as the futures events earlier this month? Can't be many venues that host both ATP World tour and futures events.

Shame but good to see Liam dip his toes into the main tour.

I assume under the new rules his next match will be the Aus open quallies?

Some Brit interest for a while longer at least:

L16:  (1) Jamie Murray & Bruno Soares (BRA) CR 19 (9+10) vs Marcin Matkowski & Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi (POL/PAK) CR 71 (40+31)

Ah, I take it that you can no longer compete in another tournament in the same week as you are in qualifying for a following week's Slam ?

Decent competitive scoreline from Liam, but I am really hoping to see him have a strong 1st half of the year. As has been commented on before, Liam has often struggled in the 1st 6 months of any season before showing massive improvement in the July-Dec period.

Last year was a classic example with 236 of his 313 points coming in the 2nd half of the year.

It was an interesting and brave choice from Liam this week to try Doha. I just wonder whether he may have been better playing a challenger somewhere to get a couple of wins under his belt before the AO qualies. Easy to make a judgement after the fact of course.

That is what I have read for WTA I assume it's the same as ATP. But wasn't sure if it came in in 2018/2019.

When are we returning to 16 seeds in a GS?

money talks - $2785 for turning up. Better than a challenger.
