Motivation was high but Richard is still injured following withdrawal yesterday.

OK.  I had forgotten that Rich had been injured and retired.  Hopefully that fact that he made it on court today means that the injury was not too serious.

I should add that the motivation comment was not meant to be critical in any way.  It's been a long season and it would only be natural if they wanted to get home for Xmas.  In their shoes, I am sure that would be on my mind.

General point un-connected with this event :-

Motivation can be a huge problem as many players carry on playing a series of 15k events when fitness or form should have told them to stop.
