GB ITF tournaments

Well the 15k's I've been to seem to use somewhat less resources. I've seen matches with just the umpire, and not even a single line judge to watch the far line. I'm not certain without checking whether the support staff need to be t the same level - number of physios etc. But regardless of that, the cost of putting on 20 dual events is a fraction of the LTA's funding.

We ony have 34 WTA ranked players (27 top 1000) and 64 ATP ranked players (26 top 1000) at the moment (OER data), so plenty to build on.

Presumably a 15k tournament would be a bit cheaper to run - maybe 40k or less. And I'm assuming that some of those would be joint mens/womens events, so less overheads.
10x15k and 10x25k would be a good mix of tournaments, and provide that essential stepping stone onto the tour that is so hard for the players at the moment.

Indeed. I think we all agree. The lta just dont seem to see it that way. In fact, I have no idea what Scott Lloyds grand strategic plan actually is? Is there a vision ?

I guess there is another possible route to go other than putting on ITF tournament. Encourage more events like the UK Pro tour. You wont get itf points but you can restrict the entry to UK players and then those players can then invest the money they win into travelling to ITF tournament.

The problem with restricting tournaments to just GB players is that they will end up playing against the same people, week-in week-out, and probably the same ones they have been playing against since they were 12 years old.

One of the important aspects of ITFs is that they do attract overseas players and gives the GB players experience against different opponents.

I would imagine it would be cheaper to fund a group of players to travel to Sharm or Tunisia and play there than to put on a tournament here. Players are getting WC into these tournaments so there are opportunities out there.
