Interesting too, that in the SF Katy will play the Omani woman who received the one LL spot into the main draw, and who has just taken out the #1 seed. All credit to her! (and repeating the addicts comment)
QF: DUNNE, Katy (GBR) 4 277 vs AL NABHANI, Fatma (OMA) LL 550 (CH:362 April 14)
Having thought a few weeks ago that Katy had ended her season and was going to drop when last year's SF points came off, this has been a very encouraging turn of events. Funnily enough, the player al Nabhani lost to in the FQR was former world junior no. 4 Bolsova Zadoinov, who went on to lose in R1 to the top seed al Nab. has just beaten.

1st set, F (=al-Nabhani) serving first, K 2nd ... hold - F breaks - K breaks back - hold - hold - hold - K breaks - F breaks back - K rebreaks - F breaks back again - hold - hold. So no player managed to follow up a break with a hold and it's tiebreak time ...

SF: DUNNE, Katy (GBR) [4] 277 beat AL NABHANI, Fatma (OMA) LL 550 (CH:362 April 14) 7-6(4) 6-3
F: DUNNE, Katy (GBR) [4] 277 vs GARCIA-PEREZ, Georgina (ESP) [2] 238 (CH:179 May 17)
Garcia-Perez has had a comparatively serene week so far - only her first round match was more than two sets. The final will be a good test of Katy's game and standard now, and the prize, a further 20 points to lift the winner to 50 for the week, will be a very welcome rankings boost for either.
Garcia Perez is the REALLY tall girl who was beaten by Harriet this year, in R1 at Surbiton, 6-4, in the third. (I was cheering SO loudly - quite embarrassing really - but the Spanish contingent was quite loud too and needed cancelling out a bit).
