Week 49 - ITF ($15K) - Guayaquil, Ecuador (clay)

Very similar indeed to last week; both score and flow of the match, and sadly that means the same result, 5-7 4-6

18 - 2* against players ranked outside the top 900 this year.

* Both by one very unranked young player

I make it 18-5 against >=900. Probably me.

blob - are those current rankings, or the rankings at the date of the match ? Sinead Lohan is currently ranked 777 on the ITF site - could that be the difference between the 18-2 and 18-5

Good point. Those are the rankings on the day the match was played.

New rankings are applied each Monday as the new lists come out. So, a player could have one ranking for qualies, and as the new rankings apply, a different ranking in the mmain draw if they made it. The ranking lists are downloaded in full automatically, and the ranking for each player matched automatically against them.

Oops, apologies all including Steven who tweeted my "18-2" info but at least pointed to the offending source ( moi ) though it looks as if he may have later removed that bit.

Err can I revise to 18-4, agreeing 2 of blob's additions but not the third. Though 18-5 is closer than 18-2

The two that I now agree are Sinead Lohan WR 909 and Mary Closs UNR - err a misreading of Lohans ranking and inserting Emily's own ranking for Closs.

Double, triple checking Anastasia Nefedova, she was WR 832, indeed was the #8 seed.

18-4, subject of course to no other errors.

I also agree with 18-4
My Nefedova error arises becasue there are (were) two Anastasia Nefedova's.
The one we are concerned with is down as "Nefedova Anastasia (1999)" in the list, so just referencing "Nefedova Anastasia" picked up the wrong players ranking - the other, older Anastasia Nefedova.
Nefedova Anastasia (1999), did have WR832 when she played Ms. Appleton, as Indiana says, and so I should not have included her in the list, apologies.

I thought the pesky Ekaterina Makarova's were the only titular dopplegangers on tour
