I see that Sweden are in a relegation play-off. They currently only have Johanna Larsson and Rebecca Peterson in the top 400 and Larsson is not in the team here.
6 years since I was in Boras to see us lose a World Group II Play-Off. How time passes too quickly. Bally RIP.
We are looking to get into our 4th World Group II Play-Off since 2012. Losses away to Sweden in 2012, away to Argentina in 2013 and away to Romania last year.
Am right in thinking that should we get through and are unlucky enough to have to play Roumania, it would be a home tie, but otherwise as we haven't played any of the other possible teams since the cut-off date of 1995 the venue would be decided by lot ?
Hungary's best two singles options look to be Stollar and Galfi, although they have only both played singles today ( each playing singles in just one of the first two ties ). They are almost certainly their best doubles pair too and have had two straight set wins in the two days they played doubles together, and I read there have played loads of doubles together, and have to think would be a tougher doubles proposition than GB have faced to date.
Hungary actually lost their first tie to Sweden ( as said, now in a relegation play-off ) and the first match of their second tie ). That looked quite a competitive group.
So expecting Stollar and Galfi to play both singles and doubles if it matters. What will we do if it matters? Though it shouldn't.
Very unimaginative choice of surface for this competition. Surely can't have been impossible, in Estonia in February, to find some ice to play tennis on.
Sevastova WR15 lost to 17 year old Danilovic WR304 (JWR9),
Ostapenko also lost a singles rubber earlier in rhe week.
Not the smooth progress I'm sure Latvians were hoping to see, though they might still scrape through.

Just put their 2 highest ranked players (ostapenko and sevastova) to do the doubles, though both have a decent doubles ranking. Now winning comfortably, 6-1 2-0.
didn't read that part, they can hardly call it a promotion if it's only a play-off - thought they might have changed the rules knowing how fond the tennis authorities are of p'ing about with them
