Week 48 - ITF ($15K) - Milovice, Czech Republic, Hard Indoor

Eden and partner Lucia have also won their first round doubles match on an MTB 6-3 4-6 10-7

They now play the top seeds in the QF who had a bye in the first round ...
QF: Silva/ Bronzetti (GBR/ITA) vs Colmegna/ Matteucci (ITA/ITA) [1]

QF: Eden SILVA (GBR) [7] 513=CH vs Manon ARCANGIOLI (FRA) [1] 381 (CH:268 Mar 15)

Well Eden does get to play Manon next.. but Archangioli took 2 hrs 40 mins today to beat a player, Lara Michel (SUI) in 3 sets who is only currently ranked 861 (though has also been as high as 285 before). But if Eden plays well tomorrow, who knows she could indeed provide a shock...

Eden has played Manon before. In Heraklion in 2016 Eden won 3-6 6-4 6-2.

Manon is a decent player and is higher ranked than the ITF state, given the one week delay, as she won Minsk last week.
But she's 23 and not really broken through - she played a lot of richer events this year, including some nice wildcards, and only had one decent run, nearly all the others were a washout. Emily Arb beat her in three sets earlier this year too. There's certainly not much to be sacred of there.

Eden a set down but has an early break in the second set. She did go *3-1 up in that first set after a game in which Arcangioli served the only 3 DFs of the set but two further breaks ( 3 to 2 overall ) gave Arcangioli the set.

4-6 *2-0

And kept her lead to win the second set, but Eden's serve is under pressure again beginning of the third. Currently 4-6 6-2 *1-1

A lot of pressure and finally Eden lost a 20 point 3rd game of the final set to be broken on her 4th BP against of the game and 5th BP against of the set.

1-2* final set.

Looks like that ultra long game at the start of the third set decided the match.
Still the battle to be first into the top 500 continues. Beth and Eden are the only two still down to play this year.

Maia is still showing on the ITF list for the Tunisia 15K for week 50 and is also on the initial list for week 51.

She is playing in the university event this week, so may play on tour again this year.
