A tough second round match, Pernilla has pedigree.
Yes. Her rankinig is heavily impeded by repeated and protracted injuries. Her level of play, even in the peripatetic manner in which she's been able to compete of late, is ~WR300-500

A good test for Eden who hasn't been injury free recently.
Hope they both now continue fit and healthy and of course that Eden wins this match. Even the poor Czech girl's name sounds like the next part that she might injure.

I don't know about current level exactly (top 500 seems clear but that's hardly saying anything), but the thing that struck me when I saw Eden for the first time this summer was what an elegant game she had - very fluid. Don't know if that is partly due to the years in LA and the training there at a key point, or her training here, or just natural. But it's nice to watch.
And she's obviously got her sights set high and must have some decent set-up to back her through the tough periods - her father used to be very present in her coaching and tennis life - I guess he still is. And mother too - I believe she's got a tight family network, which is such a help.
There's a nice bio about her here if anyone hasn't seen it before:
Interesting that 'Team Eden' there features everyone but a tennis coach... On the court Eden has won the first set 6-3 and 1-1 second set. Really hope she is able to push on now with her game and ranking.

I have seen Eden play multiple times and she never had any coach travelling with her....
Well, she certainly had Dan Cox there as a coach when she played the Wimbledon Qs this year. And another guy (although he might also have been a friend/brother/boyfriend, I guess). Dan was doing really coach duties - and seemed to be doing them very well, too, from what I could see.
L16: Eden SILVA (GBR) [7] 513=CH beat Pernilla MENDESOVA (CZE) 838 (CH:287 Feb 15) 6-3 6-2
QF: Eden SILVA (GBR) [7] 513=CH vs Manon ARCANGIOLI (FRA) [1] 381 (CH:268 Mar 15)
Well Eden does get to play Manon next.. but Archangioli took 2 hrs 40 mins today to beat a player, Lara Michel (SUI) in 3 sets who is only currently ranked 861 (though has also been as high as 285 before). But if Eden plays well tomorrow, who knows she could indeed provide a shock...
