Looking at Aus Open entry lists Cameron Norrie is 16th alt, while on the womens side Naomi has slightly more chance as she is 10th alt.

Katie B, WR 199, is fairly comfortably into Aus Open qualifying at #81 of the 88 on the qualifying list by ranking. Naomi, WR 116, is #9 on the list.

The cut-off #88 initial last one in is Namigata WR 207. Laura at WR 230 looks too far down the alternates to get in to qualifying by ranking.

Chris Goldsmith (The Tennis Talker) reckons Laura R will get a wildcard into Aussie qualifying.

(I 100% agree - the man is an idiot (IMHO) - but I thought I'd put it out there in a neutral fashion, coz there's not much tennis stuff going on - and, who knows, he just may be right this time .......)

As much as I like Laura Id rather see Tennis Australia give that QWC to one of their own players such as Issy Wallace whos in the top 300 or one of their players who have just left/is at US college e.g. Perez, Sharma, Wool****.

Laura is in the main draw now for the 25K in week 1 and not withdrawn so presumably plans on heading down under though. Theres talk of her playing doubles but surely her ranking is too low unless she has bagged a great partner or is going to get a WC?

I believe that Laura has bagged a very high singles ranked partner in Coco Vandeweghe ( singles WR 10, doubles WR 62 ) or at least I read that being the plan a little while ago.

With Coco's current singles WR 10 and Laura's doubles WR 114  I imagine that with a 64 pair draw their combined ranking should get them in comfortably enough.

I heard that Laura got to know Coco in London this year, and that they were playing together.

As much as I still want Laura to succeed, I no longer want her to have WCs at the expense of up and coming players - either from the UK or abroad. As far as I'm concerned she's had loads of chances for free due to her early success, and now needs to get the right help and put in the hard yards physically and mentally to realise her potential.

I've tidied up the tables - I see tennisteen.it is now showing women's draws as well.
