SF: (5) Alex Ward WR 373 vs (Q) Trevor Johnson (USA) WR 1116 (=CH)
Johnson did indeed complete at 3&0 victory over former top 100 player Krajicek. So either Krajicek is injured, or Johnson is an under ranked college graduate. Given he is 21, I would suggest there is a fair bit of the latter in his result. Others will know better than me.

Didn't recognise the qualifier whom Mr Ward plays next, and who has had a very good run. He's actually a student at Texas Christian University in his final year.

Well thank you for answering my question anyway Spectator. Johnson is a Frog. Go Frogs. Just not tomorrow in the SF please.
Hmm. Yes. I can cope with wishing to be an amphibian....but the concept of anyone voluntarily associating themselves with a slug, whatever the particularities of its nature, is beyond me.

I couldn't agree more, Spectator. Slightly off topic, I've often wondered what possessed the owners of the Slug & Lettuce pub chain to choose that name. Nothing in the would persuade me to have a drink in one! It's so off-putting!
We have touched on this before but it was conscious decision by the student body at UC Santa Cruz to choose a less macho mascot, an ironic twist on the world of mustangs, bears and Lions in which even frogs have horns!
Me Im very pro slugs and slightly disappointed that nobody has gone all out and adopted the sloth. Although Liberty are thinking of adopting the Lemming having awarded Donald Trump an honorary doctorate in May!

Well, I sympathise with their desire to undercut the norm ... but they're clearly not gardeners. While I am glad that slugs have their champions, in California and elsewhere, no gardener in the world would favour a slug. (Or name a pub after one) The sloth, on the other hand, is a mascot I rather fancy. May go for that one myself.
