Week 48 - USA F39 ($25,000) - Waco, TX (indoor hard)

Congratulations to Mr Corrie and Mr Ward, and commiserations to Mr Bembridge, Mr Gray and Mr Butler. All GB first round matches are a nuisance!

Sigouin is the third of the three precocious Canadians. Not at the same level as the other two, but may be better than his ranking suggests

Had to think about that one for a second or two, but now.

Could be, given the scoreline. But I seem to recall hearing someone commenting on Ryan Shane that he has all the gifts to do very well but is very 'streaky'. So it could just be that he had a good patch. Hope that's it!

Alex has taken his first set 6-4. Let's hope his match doesn't go the same way as Ed's did.

Alex just served for the match at *5-3 but was broken.

Good time to break again Alex. 5-4*

Congratulation on taking Coach Bob's advice. Alex breaks again to seal a 4&4 victory.

I was just looking to see who Alex would play next and seedings/rankings would suggest Austin Krajicek, who is a very solid Challenger player. However, he is currently 6-3 5-0 down to a qualifier ranked outside the top 1000.

I will leave the "college" experts to tell us if he is a ringer or not.
