Second set is to Monica, rather more quickly, and she has already broken Alicia first game of the third. So Alicia has some work to do here to regain any momentum. She has lost 5 of the last 6 games. 7-6(3) 3-6 0-1*
Monica also needs just one more win to gain a ranking after wins earlier this year over Alice Gillan and more strikingly Emily Arbuthnott
Alicia joins the long list of Brits to surrender a set advantage 7-6(3) 3-6 4-6
The British ladies lose a match after winning the first set on 15.18% of such occasions (140/922 lost)
This is sadly, far higher than the rate at which they manage to win matches from a set down, 10.51% (93/885 comeback wins)

Only 37% of first serves won in that critical deciding match, and only 5/17 BPs won the entire match against 7/10 for her opponent, tell a lot of the story of Alicia's loss in that match.
Well, Monica won the singles, but Alicia got the Miss Congeniality prize of doubles consolation.
R16: Barnett/Sainsbury (GBR/GBR) defeated Robinson/Scandalis (USA/USA) 6-1 6-3

An early break up, there was quite a long interruption between losing a return game to love and then being broken back for 4-4*. Whatever that was, she later broke again for *6-5 and served out for the set.
She's based in Spain, isn't she? Would be interested to know her domestic results if anyone has access to the Spanish federation result system. (Unless I'm completely mistaken and she's never been near Spain in her life......)
