The general repetition re American names etc is getting up there with Jaggy's doubles stuff, and on occasion was plain rude to a forum American contributor, who became an ex-contributor.
The pronunciation is pretty much exactly 'Lukey', although with slightly more French 'uu' than English 'oo', obviously (although also open to variations depending whether it's northern France or the south).
And the point remains that, Liverpool or France, it has no connection to America.
(You are obviously entitled to your own anti-American views but, as with Jared, some people find it offensive and the board is poorer for his loss. So - just my view - but I don't see the need to keep stressing it).

I often wondered where Jared had gone but have to say I respected how he did it - none of this posturing "I'm off, no I mean it, really, beg me to come back, awww shucks..." type posturing which happens so often - nope he said he was off and off he went and didnt come back. I have to say, I respected that a lot!
If you say you are going, just go and be gone.
Apologies side note really but I have wanted to say it before and never found the right place so this was a bit of a gift horse really!
In this age of intolerance, I would certainly much rather we fostered values of inclusiveness rather than those of exclusiveness. The social havoc created by the latter is all around us.
Well having inadvertently fed the discussion instead of deflecting it as was the intent (apologies), thanks to CD for sharing something about Liverpudlian nomenclature I hadn't known ... and I would echo the general sense that while we no longer view names in the slightly mystical way that some previous cultures did, they do matter to people as part of their identity and I would, on the whole, hesitate to comment. Similarly, if people choose to use nicknames or diminutives in a spirit of general approbation and affection, I'd just take those as they come. More to the point, congratulations to our GB players for ensuring that every match on Saturday has at least one GB player participating. Mr Bambridge is up first at 10:00 am (whatever time Ohio is), followed by Mr Ward, and then the doubles final. Allez les gars! So to speak.

Into the final, and the first half of Bob's request nicely satisfied.
Don't know if there's any basis for this but it somehow feels that this might be an important step in the right direction for Luke's singles - this is the launching pad for an assault on the top 300, say.

Doubles seems to be the main focus, but it does look like he is keen to defend points due to drop. Notice he is not down to play US 25K next week.
Tough call, but I would like to see Bambo win as it may give him the desire to play more singles. Alex has more tournaments in the next couple of weeks to pick up good points, whereas Bambo hasn't.
