Week 46 - WTA ($125K) - Taipai, Taiwan Carpet

Obviously misses a second serve return on the replayed point...
DF gives Naomi a BP...
Good body serve so deuce..
Really nice FHDTL from Naomi gives her an easy put away. Another BP...
Lightning cross court return is enough to force the error so Naomi will serve for it

Excellent :D
Very heartening that Naomi managed to put that farrago in the 11th game behind her and turned 0-30 around in the final game too; well done Naomi :)

Superb!

That is the frist time Naomi has ever won consecutive main draw matches from a set down.
She had previously won both her FQR and first main draw match from a set down, at Montreal in 2016.
Also, in 2015, she won the Landisville $25K final from a set down, and then in her next match, nine days later, in QR1 of the US Open, she also came back from a set down.

And, until today, in her almost 11 year pro career (we're just ten days past the anniversary of her pro debut in Nov. 2006), that was it.

Fantastic effort

Well, it's been a good day today for Naomi as she and Monique Adamczak beat Kumkhum/ Thombare (THA/IND) 6-2 4-6 10-8

Into the SF now, opponents still to be decided.

Having reached *4-2 30-0 dropping one point on serve all match, Naomi's serve falls apart.

OK, only relatively so     She gets taken to a double deuce and serves a first DF, but still ...

5-2*

First set good serving from Naomi and did a decent job at punishing 2nd serves. Veronika a bit careless at times, far more unforced errors than Naomi.

2nd set more errors from Naomi. In VK's opening service game Naomi failed to force a bp despite several promising situations. Naomi lost her serve for 2-3*, Veronika taking advantage of a run of four 2nd serves from 30-30. Naomi responded with a super game to break back with a forehand pass and a backhand down the line winner, followed by more aggressive play. Naomi took the last 16 points of the match, a mix of her own brilliant play and some ugly tennis from VK. It was noticeable that Veronika struggled to return the Broady 2nd serve for much of the match.
