Week 45 - ITF ($100K) - Shenzhen, China, Hard Outdoor

You've beaten me to the story of the 3rd set, Indiana, so I'll settle for a Cmon Katy! (who has had a 30-0 lead in this service game pegged back to 30-30)

Then *40-30 but broken back.

That one went quickly to love and Katy must hold serve here.

*4-5

No idea what's going on now - ITF PBP dots for the 8th game of the 3rd set shows 40-0 -> 40-30 but the score says 30-15, then it shows Zhang winning just 2 points to hold for and leave Katy serving to stay in the match at *4-5 in the 3rd ...

Are you working from a different source, Indiana?

I think it ended up at 5-5* after Katy held from 0-15 but Zhang is now 40-15 up on serve

Katy holds to 15, 5-5*

No, I'm following ITF live scores, though not every point so checking back sometimes.

Sad end (though nowhere near as sad as Laura's match last night - her opponent won again today btw) - it would have been Katy's best ever singles points haul but for now, that remains a 3-way tie between her 25K runner-up weeks.

Seemed a gutsy effort, the overall stats were a bit against her but she was level in what ultimately counts until the last two games.

Rats.
A welcome week for Ms. Dunne, in a year that hasn't had many. I get the sense that she's not really played much better than decent most of the year; certainly not flying, or regularly playing as she can, or might hope to.
One more win here in a good opportuity, and... but, that's the ever-present ifs, buts and maybes.
Trying to get good runs more often, or, at least, not lose her opening match so often, would be a useful next step. Perhaps that indicates ambition, tempering yourself against a level slightly too high at times, in order to raise yourself up. That, at least, can't be faulted.

Never mind the chicken feet, Katy has been well looked after by Carol Zhao and her family this week
