Be really good if Beth and Katie S can win tomorrow to give us reps in all QFs. And Em, feel free to turn over the top seed to make the top one an all British affair.
And all the best for good Eden vs Freya and Maia vs Sam matches with the winners ready for more.
We managed one point (Freya winning it as Harriet put a backhand marginally out) before my daughter informed she doesn't like tennis, and we had to leave. Hopefully her attitude will change over the years. Shame, as it's a fine set of results so far.
I saw you pop in, was going to come over and say hello and you had disappeared.
Quick report. Freya v Harriet was quiet tight, Freya has come on a bundle in the last two weeks. Her angles were great and forced Harriet way out of court on multiple occasions. Lot less errors and probably the better player. Harriet has a really solid game, but made a few more unforced errors.
Katie made a slow start, but her big serve and forehand too control and the result was never in doubt.
Maia was an easy winner. Vrjlic is no longer the player she was, despite the flowing backhand. Maia had a bit of treatment after the first set.
Hardly saw any of Eden's match, but it seemed to go the same way as Wirral.
Emily was in a real battle with a girl half her age. Emily was on top early on and deservedly won the first set, but should have won it more comfortably. The second set swung on a poor call at a crucial time, but Emily got on top towards the end of the third for a much needed win.
Didn't see too much of Beth's match, but it looked a typical gritty fight from Beth to grind her opponent down. The tie break was a bit of an epic and then the Romanian called for the trainer early in the second set. Immediately got broken and subsequently retired.
Sam v Jorovic was a terrific match. The standard of tennis was outstanding in the first set and a half and I've never seen Sam play so well, both defensively and aggressively. Jorovic is one good player, but she got annoyed by several poor call throughout the match and it affected her game.
Jodie started really well, but the girl from Liechtenstein is a pusher and just sliced or pushed everything back into court and Jodie threw in too many unforced errors. Jodie had chances in the second set, but failed to take them. Jodie is highly talented, but needs to get a higher first serve percentage and manage her shot selection. if she gets that right, she will fly up the rankings. She immediately pulled out of the doubles, although she never called the trainer on.
In the doubles, an easy win for Beth and Sam in which Lauren managed to poleaxe Alicia with a ball on the back of the head. Maia and Katie struggled to get past Tiffany and Soumeye. Freya and Harriet were excellent against a good pair.

Not much of a chance for Emily against Lesley. Freya may well be too good for Eden. Beth will give Pemra a proper test and could cause an upset. Kathinka is not that good, Katie has a great chance and I suspect Sam will repeat her win over Maia from the Wirral.
