And what a lousy draw for Beth who plays the top seed first up! Also for Laura Sainsbury who draws a seeded player in round one for the second week in a row. It's proving tough for her to get back to scoring ranking points again after her injury...
Well, after a bit of a disaster last week, my predictions are looking a good sight better this so far this week
Kira demolished the Bulgarian, winning 6-0 6-2
Lily G did indeed beat Emma Morton, in two sets.
And Lauren Bishop beat Amelia Stuart.
As well as victories for Ola, Tanysha and Summer.
Kasia P did beat Nell though, as telstar predicted. And Anna P defeated Yasmina (as both telstar and paulisi said).
Yes a convincing victory for you with 6 correct predictions against 4 for paulisi and me. I did however score a narrow victory in the wildcard prediction competition with 3 against the 2 scored by the addict and paulisi!
Anyone know why Lillian got a second wildcard?
Hilda - did Erin get a wildcard as she was travelling back from Morocco?
Still don't get why the Pitak's or Alice Gillan didn't get a wildcard at either the Wirral or Sunderland.
I wonder why the Pitak's girls haven't played doubles recently?
Erin was certainly due one for her win at the Tier 1 BT event at Frinton (although i don't know for sure if this is actually the wildcard from that, or one under some other guise, but seems likely).
Don't know about Lilly....
Don't know about the Pitaks either but wouldn't be suprised if he didn't ask for any - with them not playing juniors, they don't get that many matches, and he certainly seems to have the big picture in mind rather than point scrambling, so maybe just wants the match practice of qualis. Either way it doesn't seem to have done them any harm, they've both qualified both times and seem to be playing well. Ola will be our youngest ranked player next week - and well done to her, she deserves her success.

Lillians wildcard was from winning the National ..... already said that though. I forgot to point out that the win gave her two wildcard places!
Erins wildcard has almost certainly come from winning the Frinton Tier 1 event ..... unless the LTA were giving out maindraw places for the National 16U winners as well. It's not been used elsewhere so would pretty much have to be the case.
Cheers Hilda
The LTA's strategy doesn't really work for women's wildcards. Anyone who gets a main draw wildcard from March onwards either via BT tour or National u18 has only 2 options to use them - Wirral or Sunderland.
Sad story about the way the LTA have cut back their tournaments. We have lots of good 15-17yr olds ready to step up/test themselves to the main tour and very little domestic options available.

No.
They have twelve months on a rolling basis to use the wildcards so it's not just Wirral and Sunderland but the ones at the start of the next year too.
I think the British Tour system is a very good idea and, as said above, seeing players like Erin get the benefit is what it's all about (i.e. it's not Beth, say, who won a recent one, but who'd get in anyway. Or a youngster who is the very top of the LTA tree and will also get them, no trouble).
But still too few ITFs really...
