Bruno also went down 15-40, but managed to hold on for 4-3*

Do we know if they now need to win to qualify for the SF ??

If it was a regular 3 way tiebreak on just one win they were looking good. But I had a nasty feeling that the alts coming in might complicate issues and the head to head loss vs the Bryans might become the main issue if they lose.

Not looked further and I assume it is now known what the position is.

A couple of good returns from Bruno set up a matchpoint - converted for a 6-2 6-4 win and through to the semis

If they'd lost they would be out _ alts would not have counted as first tie break is matches played, as the alts had only played one they'd be counted out. So Bryans would have gone through on h2h. But it no longer matters and Jamie and Bruno now face kontinen and peers

And Jamie moves up to 7th place in the doubles ranking with that win

Thanks. That was kind of what was somewhere at the back of my mind. Would have been rather bad luck but they made sure it didn't come to that   biggrin

always feels harsh on any alt coming in, they basically have to win 2 matches to stand a chance and habe no chance if they only get to play one match. I suppose they get ranking points even if not a chance of progression to the semis

Jamie and Bruno are on tomorrow evening alongside dimitrov and sock. That is an attractive schedule for those with tickets tomorrow night. Fed playing in the pm.

They also get a very big cheque. I don't feel too sorry for them

To be fair that is true - $191k for a win aint bad!

I listened to Radio 5Live commentary whilst driving home from Cambridge to Yorkshire tonight (lovely Friday night traffic on the A1!) and had the Radio for company. Jamie and Bruno apparently are playing really well, slightly hampered by Jamie's back problem which is slowing down his serve slightly but that aside their tennis is of a very high quality. Leon Smith felt they should have beaten the Bryans and played better just losing that Champions TB. Fancy them v Kontinen and Peers.

Dimitrov once again played sublime tennis and that semi v Jack Sock is a very enticing  affair to look  forward to
