RE: Emily Appleton

Emily's current problem is that she's caught between 2 stools.

In doubles she'ld need to win a 25K to make any progress. So she is playing 40K+ tournaments.

In singles she would only have to win a 25K first round match or a 15K SF.

51 of her 100 singles points are from last Novembers 25K at Loughborough. 13 more from the Glasgow 60K come off in late October.

On the plus side she drops few singles points until late October. In doubles none off until late June.

A dilemma, but a nice one to have as she will have a new singles CH this week around 450 and is near her doubles CH of 180.

Wish I was 23 again disbelief

WTA rankings 10th June 2024

Emily posts a new CH at WR 356

(next week will almost certainly be more welcome news but one step at a time)

Will be no change for Emily next week. She has projected her points by qualifying for Nottingham.

I'm just going by liverankings which have her as going up a couple more places (and are generally right, although may not be so)

I suppose the same points but maybe a few above her have dropped points so she rises a bit? :)

OER is currently predicting up 5 to a new CH of 351. I can see 5 players who have lost points and dropped below her so far this week, but three below her who could overtake in theory. The rankings are very tight around this level so a point or two makes all the difference. I'm not certain whether either OER or live-rankings are completely up to date though with the results from the China W50

Emily is my only lock in for a wimbledon QWC, can definitely win a few matches. Would love to see her make a move for the top 250.
