That's what I was thinking too, though I imagine it's part of a plan to stay on in Australia during their spring and summer. Of course, in time zone terms at least (not sure about distance and too lazy to check), US west coast to Australia is about the same as Europe to US west coast, so it may not be quite as bad as it seems.

Biggest issue will surely be losing the 18 hours for the difference in the time zone. So whatever time he leaves Las Vegas it will already be Monday in Aus. Let's hope there kind and put him on late on Tuesday.

Yes the then 18 yo lad beat the 14 yo boy in three sets over five years ago on grass. Hope Kozlov looks across the net and is haunted by that experience

Yes, such as the final point in the Wimbledon QF between Konta and Halep when an overexcited spectator called out and Halep had a brain fade. Players normally know to play through non official sounds and that points will not be replayed as I think Halep immediately realised and never appealed.

I don't know if it being a particular issue at the time and/or having been complained about by a player ( I don't know if it was here ) changes or should change that position.

Whilst pleased for Liam, from a cam perspective it will leave him outside the direct entry places for the AO. Does anyone recall how many weeks he has left to raise his ranking so he gets directly in? Tantalisingly close!

For Liam, he is comfortably in qualies and probably got enough time to even get a seeding for qualies if he keeps things moving!

The relevant rankings for the MD cut-off will be these of 04/12, six weeks before the first Monday.

If we look at WR 104 say as the cut-off ( a slightly moveable feast ) then WR 104 currently has 528 points ( the associated points are a rather more moveable feast ), Cam has 488 points in the bank so to speak ( 505 less 17 due to come off on 27/11 ).

I cant see him playing right through November. Traditionally British tour players all things bein equal would want to shut down for a bit for some R and R and then a preseason training block, which would give him 2 or 3 weeks. Its a long season to prepare for and best to start with a solid preseason after a period of rest, as far as the long term goes whether he starts in the main draw or qualifying I dont think is that important.

Obviously Cams perspective of the importance of the Australian Open might be slightly different having grown up in New Zealand, but I cant see any other natural hiatus in which to fit such a break.

Cam seems to be down to play knoxville and charlottesville after a break next week so is down for at least two more weeks. Liam also lined up for the same events...the week after that is Champaign and the final US Challenger event so I imagine they will be entered for that as well, giving 3 more playing weeks til shutdown?

That does add quite a bit of context - I keep forgetting how ancient Liam is now!

He's only the 10th Brit to make 3 or more Challenger singles finals in the 2000s, beating Andy (though he of course just won 2 then moved up permanently) and perhaps more importantly Hilts! Only two of the other 9 lost their first three finals (Martin Lee, who ended up 0-3 in Challenger singles finals in the 2000s but did make the top 100) and Arvind Parmar, who lost his first five Challenger singles finals before winning his 6th and 7th but didn't make the top 100.

I think the last Brit to lose his first two Challenger finals but win the 3rd was Boggo, who went on to win 9 but never quite made the top 100.

What also helps Cam is that he still has several Zero pointers so it's not like he has to make QF for example, just to match something that is dropping out. All points count in the positive column.
