For those who like the French rankings, Fiona Gervais is N53, which is decent.
But, like rather a lot of players, she's got a lot of points from basically playing the same players time and time again, and sharing the wins and losses (I don't mean deliberately sharing them, just that's how it works out). For instance, Gervais has played Adler, (see earlier), five times in the last 12 months, winning three, losing two. Her best result this year in terms of ranking is twice beating Reix (Sam's opponent of today). So maybe you could say she's stronger than Reix. But there's really nothing else in her results of any note. She was a good youngster who hasn't really lived up to expectation.
Audrey Albie is N14 which is significantly better, as is her results sheet. However, she's still very much a 25k sort of player, does very well in 15ks, wins a couple of rounds in 25ks, gets knocked out in R1 in richer events. She's good but nothing to be scared by.
That was the stats for FIONA Gervais - all exceptionally interesting apart from the fact that I've just found out that Sam is playing JULIE Gervais.....
Will now go back and hide under a stone.
PS Unfortunately Julie is a fair bit better than Fiona...
Retirements coming thick and fast, indeed. Considering the long MTO in Sam's singles earlier, perhaps not a suprise. A shame though when in god form, and with a title on the line. F: Murray/Thandi (GBR/IND) lost to Arcangioli/Reix (FRA/FRA) 1-3 RET
