Can I be the first to predict that Cam will not be top 30 this time next year, even beating yourself.
I see him progressing well up the rankings in the next year but not that far. By this time next year I'd say top 100 probably, top 75 very possibly, top 50 probably not and top 30 very unlikely. Anyway, it does look like it will be very interesting to follow his progress.
Personally think he will be top 30 at some point but not for another couple of years yet.
I do think Aljaz could make top 30 next year as he has risen up the rankings a few times only to be derailed by injury layoffs. If he can pick up a few points in the next couple of weeks when he is not defending anything due to last Autumns' injury layoff he could start next year pretty close. A good run at the Australian Open where he exited in the first round this year might do it and if not he is likely to be playing ATP events where this year he was playing challengers and so could still replace some counters with bigger scores.
Ok off the fence, I am predicting Aljaz to be the next Brit in the top 30 ahead of Kyle and Cam.
Didn't you say in August that his challenger win was a fluke?
No, you are spinning things like a Guardian reader, I said when he won his challenger, that he had beaten players of lower challenger quality to win that title. He he since improved on this.
Certainly hugely impressive of late from Cam and as thejester pointed out in the Tiburon thread Cam has added 337 out of his total 422 points in 7 scoring tournaments from the start of July, including his Wimbledon zero. Keep going like that and certainly he'll be heading well within the top 100.
Though in that same period, Kyle has still scored 380 points from 8 scores, still in the big scheme of things not too bad, just he hasn't got consistently big scores going through the year to enable him to push on. He's been pretty consistent through the year but no single points score over 100, not picking up the big scores of say ATP finals or a few rounds of Slams, but I'm not sure he's so far away. Some doom laden thoughts re Kyle are hugely exaggerated, he's played very well at times and if he could eek out more wins in close matches against good players he certainly could be moving forward again, both through short term additional points and longer term hopefully added confidence,
So currently, if there is going to be any real competition between the two within the next year of so, I see it coming from the rise and rise of Cam rather than any particular fall-off from Kyle.
And as the emptyvessel says you can certainly throw in Aljaz ( our live ranked #2 with as said nothing more to defend this year ) and indeed before too long let's hope a returning Evo. Could be some very good times ahead with top 100 and indeed top 50 GB men.

We also have to look forward next year to the continuation of who is a challenger player and who is not when they all meet around the 60 ranking point probably in the Spring.
Oh, I'm taking Cam will be top 30 this time next year as a perfectly serious prediction. I will watch with interest to see if Vandy is right or wrong with that one.
I suspect it is no jumping on a bandwagon but rushing ahead of it. But we shall see ...
