Actually, I think it is just astonishing that Dan Nestor is still competing at this level at the age of 45! Nice lifestyle, playing pro sport, making decent money but out of the spotlight. He must have been a really good person in a previous life.....
If he's playing a five-set match, you can see him tire by the end. But he is amazing - so gifted and able to draw on skills of craft to cover areas where he's not as strong. Loved the fact that when Canada won its recent DC match, two points came from the 18 year old, and one from the (then) 44 year old. Indeed, if you look at the three playing members of the DC team, the ages of the younger two equal the age of the third.
Interesting! The top seeds, JJR & Tecau, have been dumped out by the local wild cards, McLachlan (yes, I know...) & Uchiyama, in two tie-breaks, which means Jamie & Bruno are the only seeds left in the draw.
