Watched the last few points of that. So glad Hev got a win and what a great partner to have. They were absolutely best friends some years back - obviously still get on well.
Anna and Nicole lost their doubles 12-10 in the MTB..... :(
Second week in a row that they've won the first set against a good pair, and then lost out in extra time of the MTB
Heather & Sloane are down a set, but serving to get to the MTB, 6-4 *5-4
Yes, I don't know what the stats are, but feel that Anna and Nicole have lost out on quite a few relatively close MTBs in the last couple of months... and won almost none. It is where doubles with the no ad rule etc can seem to be quite a lottery, and you can keep falling on the wrong side of the dice throw...
No-one though seems in a particular hurry to really close in on her #8 place in the race. Kuznetsova has now ruled herself out with her R1 exit. Garcia, Vandeweghe and Stephens are now the 3 with any realistic chances with a few more that would have to have a mad last three weeks of Singapore qualification. Any of the leading 3 'contenders' would now overtake Jo this week if they won the title or at least put a dent in her lead with a very good run.

Amazing year, coming undone. She is playing categorically plain badly now.
Still, I never thought I'd live to see a GB woman win a Premier Mandatory, or make SF of a Slam, let alone two, let alone one of those be Wimbledon; and make the top 10, let alone stay there for the best part of a year. Amazing times, despite current form.
"How strange, the change, from major to minor..."

you keep going on about Singapore as if it's the Holy Grail or something - what's the big deal? - the form Jo is in atm I don't see what good it would do her to go if she does qualify
No, it's much more, as many will know, that I am a bit of a statto, indeed in various sports, so the numbers games generally interest me and I was just giving facts on the race situation. And certainly at least in recent times I have never meant to suggest that Singapore was any sort of be all and end all.
I don't disagree that it is at least very arguable what good her continuing to play tournaments this season and / or at least participation in Singapore will do for her generally.
So anyway, that's the position for folk to take on board / be interested in, bothered about as they wish.
I certainly find the update useful.
Considering the achievement it would be for a Brit to qualify, and the absence of any precedent, it will be wonderful even if Johanna qualifies only to lose all her matches. It means our player was good enough across the entire season to make the elite showcase. Dizzying heights of consistency and sustained form that, frankly, we could only dream about for the last significant proportion of a century.
Of course, I'd rather she was in the runiing and playing well enough to also seem to have a chance to perhaps even win that elite showcase, but, we can't have everything - though I certainly won't turn it down should it somehow happen that way, either!

And as we discussed last year, points gleaned in Singapore are a buckshee extra points counter enjoyed for the ensuing 12 months. After just being pipped at the post last year I imagine Jo would like to qualify this time. It may not be particularly high on the wish list but I'd be surprised if making the cut wouldn't give her some satisfaction.
