Week 39 - Challenger ($100,000) - Tiburon CA, USA (hard)

Cam seeded, while Alex gets a special exempt place and draws someone using their protected ranking this time. Brydan was 1st Alt in the end but doesn't seem to have got in and isn't in qualifying either.

L32: (8) Cam Norrie WR 164 v Elias Ymer (SWE) WR 200 (CH 118 in 2016)

H2H 1-0, 2 & 1, Canadian Open juniors 2013

L32: (SE) Alex Ward WR 566 v (PR) Alejandro González (COL) WR 484 (CH 70 in 2014)

Edit:  just amending the amount of dosh at stake, as per Jaffa's post.

Week 39 - Challenger ($75,000) - Tiburon CA, USA (hard)

A beautiful place, a SE is just reward for last weeks endeavours, very pleased and excited for Alex that his Wimbledon run has given him the opportunity to get over for this west coast challenger swing.

It is not a stacked event this year so opportunities to be had for both Cam and Alex.

I have heard Things about Ymer, possibly being one to watch. Think Robin Soderling is coaching him this year or has been.

Elias Ymer is definitely one to watch - has been doing great things for Swedish tennis (along with younger brother). One of the highlights of Wimbly qualis. Quite a flashy game - good to watch. (He got to WR 5 in juniors). (And he won a challengers in Italy in August).

Jay Clarke beat his this year in a great match.

I do hope this match is streamed.

Wow, that was SO tight, as expected. And to finish on a double-fault....:(

BUT it was Ymer's double-fault

So Cam wins 7-5 3-6 7-5.....

It would be fair to say that Alex didn't make much impression on return, winning a total of 6 return points in the match with 3 of these in the final game which he took to deuce before Gonzalez clinched it.

Cam is a break up in the final set.
Stepped up a gear in set 2 and cruised it, started well in set 3, but under a little pressure on serve now.

A new career high for cam guaranteed. Could play Michael Mmoh next, seeded 4 but only 1 place ahead of cam on live rankings. It wont be long before cam is top 100 and he could very well chase down places in one or two ATP events early next year before Australian qualies, assuming he doesnt reach the main draw of course.
