Pleased for Anton - had the pleasure of seeing him at Shrewsbury and though he could be the real deal. I suspect the next match will be a step too far both mentally and physically.
Good to see Luke Johnson coming good. I saw him lose to Anton at Shrewsbury and the talent was there, just very inconsistent at that time
I actually think Billy Harris will give the top seed a fright and will take at least a set of the 2nd seed.
As for indoor venues for futures, I think there are several issues:
Facilities requested are not always available i.e Manchester Sportcity (no catering facilities)
London clubs want to much compensation for hosting i.e loss of revenue, cost of hire
On the other hand Shrewsbury make quite a bit of money from bar and food sales and are keen to put on events. I noticed one of the venues pulled out for the women's 15k and Wirral have had to step in late on.
Just curious, don't know if it's been mentioned before, but why did Oli Golding chose to play doubles with the unranked junior from Germany? Florian is playing his first adult tournament and not only has no ATP ranking and lost in QR1 but doesn't even have a junior ranking, and has a Junior CH of only 1784.
Is the kid based in the UK and Oli knows him? Or was he the only person with his name down for the doubles, looking for a partner, and he was Oli's only choice because all the others were already paired up?
In which case, Florian did amazingly well - great experience for him to play with Oli and reasonable chance that he's going to end up with an ATP doubles ranking on the back of it.
Thanks CD. I have no doubt that over the coming years, they will venture to a futures within my reach. I will enjoy watching their progress.
Bob I think you have a real treat coming your way over the next 2-3 years as we hit a bit of a purple patch of transitioning juniors in their last year of juniors. I would be suprised if anyone of the 01 era turn up in Murcia this year as I would guess the focus would still be juniors, it will be interesting to see what type of support they get and who if any turn pro rather than continue with years 12 and 13 at school, I presume George and Anton have already made that choice and settled into year 12. Jack D is only starting year 11.
When did Kyle choose to go pro, did he do so before year 12 or start and then make the decision?

I first met Kyle the week before he got his first ranking point. He was 17 at the time and had already taken the decision to go pro. I don't know at what point he actually made that decision.
Murcia or Cartagena would be great, but I fancy another trip down to Valle de Lobo and Faro as well, so that would be good too. I know Beechy really likes the set up, particularly at Valle de Lobo, and I think he is still working with Finn at JTC, so I wouldn't be surprised to see some Brits turn up there.
I hope that we see more of Tom after this run of tournaments. In the mens we seem to have a couple at both futures and challengers that look like they could go up a level. Good times compared to others I have followed!
