So the 10 peskies all avoid each other. May they be suitably culled in R1.

It's great that we have such a strong group of 2001 boys keeping each other honest, even in domestic competition.

Strange that Guez suddenly turns up out of nowhere, to play a 15k down in Devon. Has he got mates down there or something?

There are important point opportunities for the unranked/lowly ranked players.

Neither Tad (born 2000) nor Barney Smith (born 1999) are ranked so that'll be one extra ranked player guaranteed.

Josh Rose and Anton Mat. is a similar match. Likewise, Tommy B against the LL. And Ryan P v Sean, Luke J v Dusty, and Josh P v Isaac: all players to whom every point counts.

As you say, Oakie, three 2001-ers (even without Jack) is great to see. As well as two 2000-ers. And two 1999-ers, I think.

One pesky survives the first round, another bites the dust:

L32:  (6) Peter Bothwell (IRL) WR 658 defeated Ryan Storrie WR 722 by 2 & 3

L32:  (4) Neil Pauffley WR 627 defeated Marvin Möller (GER) WR 903 by 3 & 1

Comfortable win for Neil.  smile

And another pesky bites the dust ( wink ):

L32:  Luke Johnson WR 1000 defeated Dusty Boyer (USA) WR 1061 by 7-6(7) 7-5,

so he gets Peter B in the next round.

Ryan S hasn't really capitalised on his great run in Ireland - got a couple of wins/points, here and there, which is all good, but not enough to make any real impact.

However, thrilled to see that Luke J has got a good win over the American. That'll get Luke into the top 1000. And with his doubles being successful, it's good to see another big-serving college boy doing well.

(A spring article about Luke said his plans for this year were to make top-800 in singles and top-500 in doubles). He's not quite there yet but he's not that far off.... Top-100 is the long-term goal.....)

Young Aidan is no doubt being drop-shotted to death by the Czech second seed and has lost the first set 3-6.

Ryan P (another college top-1000 very soon prospect) is 5-5 in the third with Sean H.

Always going to be really tough for whoever lost but that continues the Ryan P/Julian Cash/Andy W assault on the top 1000 by our college lads:

L32: Ryan Peniston WR 1021 def. Sean Hodkin WR 1307 6-2 3-6 7-6(2)

And a second pesky, predictably, goes through to the next round:

L32:  (2) Michal Konecny (CZE) WR 449 defeated (WC) Aidan McHugh WR 1877 by 3 & 4

The second set last an hour & seven minutes, the match as a whole an hour & 43 minutes, so he put up a fight!

Meanwhile, Tom Farq does for Harry W by 2 & 4 in an hour & 11 minutes.

Blinkin' right! I was the first to say so above....cry

Luckily, I have other faves..... always good to have a fair few smile

And I stick with them: Finn was a tad disappointing last year but had a great tournament last week.

Jay Clarke's fiver has proved very profitable as of today (clicked into the top 300). biggrin

George L is getting seriously beaten up as we speak but that's not a problem.

Little Aid did pretty well too. And then there's Gemma and Holly and ... and ... and ...

(And then there's a bunch I don't rate too highly but maybe some of those will come through with flying colours - hope so)
