Three born in 2001, of which two of them still only 15: Jack D, Alex S and Anton
One born in 2000 : Tad
Five born in 1999: Josh R, Max S, Barney Smith, Michael Shaw, David Stevenson
Very good to see.
Also, seven guaranteed GB qualifiers (and reasonable chance for all eight - go, Barney !)
The draw is now out and Oli Golding does have a WC. BUT oh so typically and unfortunately has been drawn in the first round against Lucas Catarina (MON), now #3 seed, who put him out at Roehampton.
Hope I'm not repeating everything of CD, but that's a huge pity for Oli, as although Tom is playing too, he is/was arguably our best chance of a winner. Guess it's going to be a big match one way or another.
At least Oli will be more rested against Caterina this time rather than playing him on his 10th successive competition day.
Yes bit pity he didn't get an easier draw but whatever happens tomorrow he will still over time surge up the rankings if he wants to commit to it. Be interesting anyway.
Once Tom is on a bit of a roll I think I might take him over a still early days Oli at this stage if they were to meet here. Certainly not one I think would be a clear call.
I presume the courts at the Tarka Centre are fast which might help Oli as he was complaining at Riehampton about how difficult it was to put the ball away on the slow high bouncing acrylic.
