Excellent result from Olivia, beating the girl ranked 560 (ex top-250) in two sets.

Knew Alicia would win but very pleased for Beth - Alice is no muppet (ex top 500 or so) and that's a clear-cut score. Beth seems to be there with a coach this week which I'm not sure has always been the case. Hope that helps, should do.

Well done to Em too.

Next round is going to be tougher but what do you expect.....

Yes, lovely photo.

I don't know if it's got anything to do with their choice of event but the Clermont-Ferrand club has a strong connection, it seems, to British female tennis.

Naomi Broady, Tara Moore, Lisa Whybourn, and others, have all played/do play for their team. And are members of the club even if they're not playing.

I wonder if a couple of the girls are there to talk about being recruited for the team and to be checked out by the team manager.

Em loses against the French girl ranked 504, 6-1 6-4

BUT Olivia is leading 6-2.
