First time I've really seen Carreņo play.  He has a bit of a beak on him, hasn't he?  Spoils what would otherwise be quite a handsome face!  cry  Not sure why "JudeMoo" refers to "Feli" as "Deliciano", either...

OMG I definitely do! I so, so, would. Must be one of the best looking male players on tour.

Ahem.

Nah.  Dimi, "Foggy" & Pouille - maybe....

I'll give you two of those. Don't think much of Foggy.

The boys were crap today, Dom really struggled at Times, consistently poor all match. No wonder Leon's face was like thunder. Such a shame after the heroics of yesterday.

So Kyle is having a workout on the clay this evening. If he plays it will either be Cam and Kyle or Kyle followed by Liam.
But who will Spain play ?
Both Busta and Ferrer are available and could both play, but in what order (do they have a choice ?)

Dom bombed? Dom dropped the bomb?

He just wasn't up to the standard of anyone else, including Jamie.

Taking out the Murray brothers and Dom and looking at what the post Murray DC team might look like (or who else would pair Jamie) who else could become our doubles team?

Jamie and Kyle? Kyle and Cam? Someone else?

Liam/Jay with Cam would be worth a go for me but hoping the Murray's could carry on being the dubs first choice for some years yet because they are generally better than most. With 5player selections and the improving GB options of the next gen coming through, Andy shouldn't need to play 3days again. That might not be a problem if they change the format soon anyway, which I hope they don't. 5sets and 3days needs to stay, it's brilliant as it is.

Clearly Cam must play first. If he wins and Kyle is ready, then Kyle plays the decider. If Cam loses (and a dead rubber is required) then Liam plays.

As for doubles, Dom had a shocker. But let's not forget, in the previous DC match last year, he had a stormer. Let's not write him off just yet after a bad day on his worst surface. But if we are going to take both Jamie and Dom out, I would like to see a regular pair playing as opposed to putting two players into an untried pairing. Couldn't look beyond the Skupskis in those circumstances.

However, if you want to speculate on random pairings, how about Joe Salisbury and Neil Skupski. Or even Marcus/Jay, who beat Mahut/Herbert at Wimbledon.

I think they'll reckon experience will do for cam and put ferrer out against him. If it goes to a 5th carreno-busta will then play

That was my thought Jon, but hadn't looked up the rules to see if they could work it like that - ie when they had to announce the change for the fifth tie.

Yes I think they can leave decisions for the morning and only need to nominate for the 5th rubber after the fourth. The Spanish would be better served to match Busta against Cam to keep Kedders off court. Not sure Ferrer is any stronger than Vinolas. Go for the throat, so to speak because they can be certain Cam can only play the 4th rubber and he will..

It has such a great atmosphere kinda like a (very) mini Olympics. A city break Olympics.

Yes, what do they think changing to best of 3 sets and over 2 days will actually change? Just for the worst I'd say,

They presumably think that many of the top players that often don't play will suddenly routinely appear, but I can't see many at all being so influenced just by that. It seems the general schedule is the issue and if their feeling is not to play they still won't.

And generally same participants and mucking up a great format is Lose, Lose

Arguably even if you won by having more top players, as Oakland suggested earlier you would lose more by the format change. What do the actual participants think? What do the fans think?

Please ITF, properly think this through.

The yanky chap on here said Cam would excel on clay some days ago and he must be applauded... TCU Frog-chap from memory.. Bloody hell he performed. Cam doesn't have the weapon but he keeps it alive and Agut struggled with that..

The Spaniards don't like it up em.. but the dubs as ever is critical. Hopefully our boys will keep it cool tomoz..

Yes TCUFrog, back a couple of pages you will find him. On the Cam having no weapons, well, yes he was quite superb at out rallying Bautista-Agut, but he also packed in twice as many winners as BA did, as you can see in the following link of the match stats - 60 winners in all for Cam, compared with 30 for BA, and 48 of those 60 were forehand winners. He also out aced Agut and comfortably won more first serve winners... It was the number of winners Cam got especially with his forehand that was one of the revelations of that clay court performance.... Clearly following Leon's injunction not to sit back and be passive against the Spaniards, but to take the game to them to have a chance of winning... which Liam also tried to do, particularly in his 3rd set.

Indeed, the winners does tie in with perception. But net points won ?!  confuse

Cam 2/3 as against 4/9. Hardly ties in with actuality and even though clearly very much still a baseline dominated match, as the commentators said there seemed to be almost a "rush to be first to the net" at some points. He had a fair number of net winners and worryingly at the time ( but OK of course ) missed two at *3-2 in the final set.

So Kazakhstan, USA, Germany and Italy are all through. Kazakhstan will face Croatia or Canada, USA probably will face Belgium, Italy v France ( which would be in Italy) and Germany would face Spain or Gb. If Gb somehow pull it off today, the the would be in Britain.
