A surprisingly one-sided end to a good week.
It might have been different if Katie took her chances (1/5 BP), but in reality, she won just 40% of all points.
4-6 0-6

A bit of a sad end (0-4) today, but only to what has been a pretty good week for Brits, especially those in the GB 4-9 range, who have picked up 80 WTA singles points between them:
28 - Katie B - 100K+H QF - remains GB 4
21 - Tara - 80K QF - will rise 2 to GB 7
18 - Harriet - 25K SF - will fall 2 to GB 9 then move up when these points get added on Monday week
12 - Katy - WTA FQR - stays GB 6
1 - Laura - remains GB 5
0 - Gabi - remains GB 6
Katie would have cracked the top 200 had she won tonight. As it is, she will only be about 10-15 points away, with only 19 points left to defend this year.

Hmm... where is Gabi, actually?
She hasn't played in eight weeks, and only twice in the last thirteen. Her last match was a R1 loss in Woking $25K, but there was no suggestion of injury.
Be good to see her back soon.

Yes and re the BPs it would appear from the ITF stats and momentum graph Katie took her only BP of set 1 and her 4 BPs in set 2 were all in a long 2nd game.
She seems to have really fallen away after not getting that break back early in the second set with the last 4 games going quickly. But up till then the first set had been 30 points to 34 and 1 break to 2 and then still very competitive until it went 0-2* in the second set. That set went 12-29 on points including the 7-9 second game.

Yes, I wondered similarly in another thread not too long ago but didn't get any reply at that time. Clearly July to November was last year's post Wimbledon period when she wasn't able to play let alone accumulate points so she could have been moving up the rankings but looks as if something is amiss. Hope nothing particularly serious and that she is indeed back soon.

Something happened at Woking, but I've no idea what. Gabi had a close first round, 3 set loss against a good player, Diana Marcinkevica, but then withdrew from the first round of the doubles with Freya Christie (who also hasn't been back since), and then withdrew from Chiswick the following week. And that has been that, Gabi hasn't been seen since.
