Thanks for the info from yourself and others. Went along today, took a chance with the car and actaually got the last parking space. Sign in, get pass and you are good to go. I watched a couple of matches finishing with Oliver Golding beating Bennet to make first round of the main draw. He was complaining the courts were too slow to put the ball away but came through in straight sets.
Surprising no umpires for the Q rounds but not too many disputes. Some officials patrolling the matches would occasionally hand out code violations. Viewing from the grassy banks is slightly restricted by the height of the corner fencing but pretty good.
As reported by Toby, Oli came through easily. Alex Jhun beat young Barnaby 7-5 in the 3rd and Tiran unfortunately went out to Dusty Boyer, also in 3 sets.
Main draw is also out, but not complete as qualifiers have yet to be placed. WCs are now confirmed as Sean Hodkin, Aidan McHugh, Finn Bass and Brandon Murphy.
Brilliant result for young Jack Draper - I had a feeling that he might pull one off here (but that Tiran would struggle). He's only 15 but put out the guy ranked 1147 with bakery products !!! :
FQR: (qWC) Jack Draper (GBR) UNR (born Dec. 2001) def. (q8) Shahar Elbaz (ISR) WR 1147 6-0 6-1
FQR: Adam THORNTON-BROWN (GBR) WR 2050 (CH 1176) def. Matthew SHORT (GBR) UNR (CH 708 in 2012) 6-2 1-6 6-4
FQR: (q15) Rob Carter (GBR) WR 1677 (CH 803 May '14) def. (qWC) James Story (GBR) UNR (age 16) 6-2 6-4
Astonishing first go a Futures qualies for Jack - that's a career best ranking scalp, obviously, but he has only lost 6 games in 6 sets!

And having two qualifying rounds on Sunday with the seeds having their feet up* in wait for those who come through QR1 is hardly a level playing field.
* Well, apart from Oli who will no doubt be doing a dash from Nottingham. When does he get considered for a home MD WC again ?? ( then again he might get in by right before then, though still in alts for Barnstaple next well, so go on, give him one for there before he gets slightly ****ed off and / or knackered from so much playing and winning )
My sentiments exactly.
Oli is a class player and nice guy. Just the sort of ambassador we want for our sport. I hope that the LTA treat his well on his return so he won't quit again/get injured.
I still don't quite get why he wasn't given a WC here based on his heroics last week.

Any of our silent readers from Soto Tennis will have picked out the tie of the round as Lloyd Glasspool takes on Pete Bothwell. Control those controllables guys.
I'll second that Helen40... Oli should have been give the main draw WC, in my opinion I think Ryan deserved one too!
George Loffhagen didn't receive a WC as he's injured
Oli not getting a MD WC for Nottingham was fair enough so early and still some conflicting messages from the man himself re how much of a comeback it was.
Not getting one here though is rather more debatable. Surely he has got to get one for Barnstaple next week, especially if he does well again here, and is still standing ...
Marcus Willis playing a well known surname, Ocleppo. Dad was Gianni Ocleppo, Italian Davis Cup player in the 1980 final and Julian is the son of Gianni and Dee Ocleppo-Hilfiger - they divorced and she married Tommy Hilfiger, along the lines of "so what attracted you to multi billionaire Octogenerian Tommy Hilfiger then, Mrs Ocleppo". Gianni coaches Julian and he himself appears to split his time between modelling and tennis. lets hope the model in him turns up to play Marcus.
The wildcards are as expected, with Sean and Brandon using their cards they've won in previous events.
I agree with the comments above - it seems to me that there's a fair chance that the powers that be do not look too favourably on Oli.... let's hope that it is temporary and that his results speak for themselves and force the issue .....
In the main draw, nice to see a good number of juniors in there with a shout. (And that the two top seeds have drawn the two 'pesky' qualifiers, and not ours.....)
