Fantastic win by Alex, he has been fortunate with the draw only having to play one player inside the top 200 (176) but it's still a great achievement considering all his fitness problems. No reason he can't win tomorrow and put himself in the top 350. If he does that you'd expect to see him with a chance of making 250 by year end.
Great week for Alex - with Liam doing so well at St Petersburg and another decent week in the Futures event in the UK, it has been a good week for the UK win. And Alex's win takes him into the top 10 GB players and cuts the average of the top ten further now around 182-3 level.
Another win for Alex will take that average sub 180 easily (177 level) , this post Wimbledon period has seen some progress.
On that front, it is clear the GB players get no advantage from the grass season at all; our best results clearly come on hardcourts and North American ones at that.
A suggestion - make Wimbledon into a hard court event
Second suggestion - play it in September
third suggestion - play it somewhere in the USA, not New York of course otherwise it would be the US Open and that would be silly.
