Week 38 - ITF ($25K) - Lubbock, USA Hard

She may be 40, but Lindsay Lee-Waters is doing a number on Lauryn, 1-6 *1-5

And she completes the job and goes 2-0 against Brits in 2017. All credit to her, age no impediment if you're good enough.
1-6 1-6

Lauryn got a lucky loser place ... and drew Sabrina in R1, so quite an opportunity to add 5 points for both of them! Do I want Sabrina to win (could she get tempted back instead of just playing this one-off at her college?) or Lauryn, who would be on the edge of the GB top 25 with a win ...

Harriet has drawn (Q) Eva Siska (USA)

Texas Tech appears to have worked out really well for Sabrina, the women's tennis programme is very strong built by a highly rated coach, very popular with the organisers of this event I spoke to last year.

Sabrina now a senior was one of 4 very strong freshman recruits, good and bad in that she has played at No 5 through out, unbeaten last year and only lost 4 dual matches in total, 3 as a freshman. She has also excelled as part of the no 1 doubles team here, ranked 33 nationally end of year. Obviously the depth in the team has many advantages in terms of development and it is great to see Sabrina having some success here, I can only see her focusing on college tennis this year, she is not down for Stillwater whereas some of her team mates are.

For what it matters Lauryn could do with a counter just to retain a ranking with two of her four existing counters coming off on 02/10 and 09/10. Clearly only an irregular ITF competitor for now but it doesn't go amiss for draws to have a ranking and she won't get a point as a R1 LL. Though her other two counters come off in November so she will need others.

Isn't Eva Siska a sort of honorary Brit and very nice too. Harriet the Ruthless.

Anyway, well done to her and and Sabrina too.

Doubly ruthless from Harriet, with Francesca Di Lorenzo, she won 1 & 0 again in the doubles!
