Katie only serving @ 41%, but winning ~90% of those points.
Close set, with only 3 BP (of which 2 for Katie).
Katie leads, up a break , 5-2*
Here's a set point, 40-30*...
Deuce. Veselinovic eventually holds.
Serving for the set then, *5-3

Somewhat frustratigly, having ousted Harriet yesterday, Ula Radwanska then gave a w/o today befire her match against Chanel Simmonds. Simmonds thus awaits the winner of this match.

The questioning was valid; this is Katie's best week in about half a year.
It's her second $25K SF of the year, after Irapuato in week 15. It's also the first time she's won more than 2 matches in a week since then.
So, a welcome uptick.
Sixth seed, Simmonds, in the Semi.

That win also means we have won as many matches this week as we had active players (17), and that's one more win in total than last week; just spread far more thinly.

A word on Daneika: this is a pretty remarkable run.
She's mostly a coach now, at Columbia (if this is current: www.gocolumbialions.com/ViewArticle.dbml )
A decent US college doubles player, but this is just her second pro event in 3 years, following one in June (where she went out in doubles QR1!).
Also, she's played pro tournaments since 2009 in one capacity or another. This is just her second final of any description in all of that time.
A remarkable littel run, and a nice story. With apologies to Harriet (and Maria, who is lovely), I kinda hope Daneika completes the 'Cinderella story' and takes the title.

Thanks blob, I was wondering from where Dani had suddenly reappeared, and it is interesting to know. It is a remarkable sudden run, and even if CD is playing up her likely partner's role... well Ana wouldn't have agreed to play with Daneika if she didn't think she could play a bit! Will be an interesting final, though Harriet and Maria do seem to be playing well. They didn't give the #2 seeds much look in in the SFs.
