Week 37 - Great Britain F4 ($15,000) - Nottingham (hard)

I was a little surprised to see this and next week are outdoor events, this time of year. Although F6 is indoors I believe

They don't exactly give themselves breathing space starting the main draw on Wednesday.

Matches in the unbearable heat of the bubble on lightning fast courts.

Bass defeats Canter 6-3 6-4 poor level match errors, errors, errors

Yes! Bothwell defeats Bauvy super match well worth the discomfort

Spoliled for choice now outside for Storrie V Glasspool or Golding v Murphy

Thanks for that Wardy, so we have an on the spot reporter

Bass and Canter, two players who just haven't pushed on. Hopefully they can find something more, but they haven't really been pushing on for some time. Disappointing but not really surprising that their match didn't hold up at all against other matches.

PS: I believe Finn provisionally will now be our top ranked player among still junior eligible players on at least 2 points. I am afraid that tells us rather more about there being no particularly outstanding 1999 boys. Thankfully what's following looks much better, particularly the 2001 borns. And I hear there's quite a good fella in the 1998s.

The last time I checked Oli was 0-4 in the second, so it's good to see he's now 6-5*!

edit - and he won 6-3 7-5

Same here.  Seem like a sudden turnaround.

So glad you think that too - he's got such relaxation and natural acceleration through his shots, amazingly impressive. (Of course, you need more than that to have an amazingly impressive game all round, but that part of it really stands out, and it's a good start).

And, as per the others, thanks so much for the reports !

Yes, if Oli rediscovers his appetite for competition and stays focused I'd say he was as good a prospect as any of those younger than him. Except perhaps Kedders smile

18 year-old qualifier, Sean Hodkin, is caught in a ding-dong battle with the fourth seed.

Play has been suspended with the score at 4-4 in the third.

You've got to fear that the Frenchman will have the experience to come out tomorrow and get the job done.

But you never know.....fingers crossed....and it's an excellent effort whatever.
