Week 37 - Great Britain F4 ($15,000) - Nottingham (hard)

Out of interest, why are the main draws started on a Wednesday now, I am sure that has been the case the last couple of futures events in the UK? It presumably means a Sunday finish? I always thought Futures events closed on a Saturday? Not that it matters particularly, just interested in why the change?

I think this one was different because of the Aegon county team thingy, which put things back a day so it didn't overlap.

Historically, the LTA have always started women's Q on a Monday, MD Wed because it means no SE places can be taken so a couple more Brits get in from the Alt list.  Not sure if it is something they regularly do with the men.

The last of the qualifying results is:

FQR: Evan Hoyt UNR beat Tommy Bennett UNR 6-3 6-2

Pleased for Evan. Lets hope he can make progress in the MD and get some points in the board.

Yes, great to see Evan back.

He gets the half-French Evan in R1 - Good 'Evans !

Mason Recci has a wildcard. No Aidan. Others as expected.

Glasspool (3) vs Storrie the stand out pairing. Lloyd will not be happy with that!

 ditto smile

There's some nice one-pointer matches for our lower ranked players. The chance for a few home players to chalk up a good win or two.

Think my poor little Brandon is going to get crushed, though  blankstaresmile

I see Marcus Willis was a late withdrawal and out of Barnstaple, but still on Roehampton list??? Injured or just part time player now....

Now? wink He's been a part-time player for ages, hasn't he? I hope there's a reason this time, i.e. one that means he is still intending to give it a proper go before it's too late.

I presume he's injured as he didn't play for A1 for whom he's normally pretty loyal at the Team Tennis Finals.

Injury might explain his absence from the Team Finals, but as Seagull mentioned in the "Entries" thread, Marcus is down for qualies for the Turkey Challengers over the next couple of weeks, hence the absence from the GB futures - possibly.

I guess we will know more if/when he appears on the Izmir drawsheet this weekend.

The first result of the day is in as Jonny Gray beats Mason Recci 1&0

In other matches, Billy is a set and a break down, Neil P has just taken the 1st set against Luke J, while Ryan P is at *5-5 against his American opponent.
