Wildcards are normally handed out a few days before the start of qualifying. I have seen cases of referees phoning round on the night before qualifying giving out wildcards.
Jodie Burrage got a main draw WC at Wirral once, having turned up for qualifying. She could have had two days at home if she had more notice.
I imagine that they've done some publicity to get people to come and watch the final. It'd look a bit odd if the time changed on the day (or day before)
It's been done before. I remember when Marcus was playing in Madrid and made the final, it was scheduled for a 14.00 start. At Marcus' request (insistence) it got brought forward to 12.00 hours just because he had a plane to catch.
Edit
Perhaps we are better off hoping for a bit of rain in Roehampton so that QR2 matches are moved to Monday.

Yes, I rather think on start times Madrid the odd example, though well done to Marcus for his insisting skills. Not so good if you didn't hear about it and turned up late or had made other plans for earlier.

The guy who produced the video afterwards wasn't too impressed because they were half way through the 2nd set before he turned up to start filming.
Meanwhile, Lloyd has evened things up by taking the 2nd set 6-4 and is already an early break up in the decider.
Great week, and hopefully a boost for Lloyd who was obviously struggling a bit earlier on this year.
And Oli, hopefully, has a smile too - it's been a super few weeks - I rather hope he's got someone to do the driving for him and he can do a bit of stretching in the car ! But, if not, good luck, Oli !
A pretty interesting tournament all in all. Well done to both Oli and congratulations to Lloyd on his win. Roehampton shouldn't be too much of a schlep for Oli, I presume he is still based in SW London. Hopefully he will continue to push on next week.
