All Oli has is a first round bye, same as all the other seeds, meaning his first Q match is not until Monday. I don't believe it. He should have an SE into the main draw. What on earth is the LTA playing at?!

They play 2 qualifiers on the first day, so match is on Sunday.
However, unless it is over quickly, bad light will prevent a finish.
Surely an SE entry is not in the hands of the LTA / organisers so doubt in this case that specific point is at all down to them, just main and qualifying WCs. They must add any eligible SEs to the main draw or the first two if more than two.
I know there was previously some suggestion that you actually had be on the qualifying list as opposed to the alternate list to be eligible for a SE. But this was countered as being not the case.
So if he is eligible, then he surely can only not get an SE if others have prior rights for the maximum two.
Does the fact that he is a qualifying seed and therefore not due to start until Monday change things in that he clearly can make that?
Edit: ah, so he is due to play on Sunday. Yes, he can physically make that, but I would have thought being on the same day qualified for an SE so I can only think that he is not eligible or there were two players ahead of him for an SE

"Entered players on the Qualifying Acceptance list who apply for and receive exemption into the Singles Main Draw of the following weeks tournament because they are still competing in singles at a Qualified Tournament on the day the Qualifying event is scheduled to begin."
which suggests that you DO have to have been on the acceptance list in order to claim a SE.
This is from page 10 of the 2016 rule book, so not necessarily still the case: http://hts.hr/images/uploads/2016_Pro_Circuit_Rulebook.pdf

As I said a couple of days ago Oli had entered but was about 70 odd on the alternate list for qualifying. You actually have to be on the qualifying entry list to be eligible for a SE (for challengers where there is no qualifying acceptance list this irrelevant).
Then again the fact he hasn't been given a wild card is a joke, in my opinion.

For ATPs and Challengers, you don't have to have been on the original entry list to be eligible for a special exempt place but for ITFs/Futures, it seems you do. It's all very confusing and I hope I'm both remembering this correctly and not contradicting anything I've said in the past!
