Her second serve stats are remarkable. Now 10/14 (71%), which with 4 DFs means 100% when it drops in. Or conversely Emily's taking advantage of second serves is awful.
A big fall off from the first set where Fran only had 1 DF. She has perhaps tensed up more this set, and Emily now has her first break, so 6-3 3-4* to Fran. Three sets looking more likely now.
Is Fran a player known to rather go for her second serve? The stats today would still have her overall looking pretty good for second serve points won % in spite of her DFs.
Have just looked again and now it is a completely different match to the first set. Serving stats for both players have fallen through the roof and thus far in the third set there have been 6 service breaks and no holds! 6-3 5-7 3-3 overall, Fran first. First hold may indeed win it.
Very well done to Emily on her second pro singles title Commiserations to Fran; a third seed of the week just a little too much to overcome. A wonderful tournament nonetheless, and hopefully her first title will not be long in coming.
And that caps the best week of the year for the GB ladies by a wide distance.
Well done all. Now... let's have another just like it!

Data I post, opinions I offer, 'facts' I assert, are almost certainly all stupidly wrong.
Excellent win for Emily. The close result emphasises how good Fran is at 16 ie. easily on a par with a top 100 US college player, in my opinion because of the vagaries of the college ranking system and the depth at Stanford probably on a par with a player ranked about 50. .
Well done to Emily for the title and indeed well done to Fran for such a week. Pity her serve level dropped ( though both did to an extent ), though while falling from its early very high level her second serves won % still ended the one stat in which she was ahead.
Fran started the week by beating the WR 303 top seed ( WR 133 at the start of the year ) and finished with such a competitive match with Emily. Emily is clearly ( and still will be after these title points are added ) very underranked, such is her limited schedule, and as Oakland points to seems to be underranked in college terms too.
