RE: Weeks 35 & 36: US Open, New York (hard) - doubles

It's beginning to look suspiciously as though John Peers is faring better in partnership with Henri Kontinen (through to the semi-final) than Jamie is with Bruno...

QF:  (12) Jean-Julien Rojer & Horia Tecau (NED/ROU) CR 55 (28+27) defeated (4) Jamie Murray & Bruno Soares (BRA) CR 13 (6+7) by 1 & 2  bleh

I can see the search for yet another partner in the offing...

1 and 2 is a thrashing. In doubles that is poor. Shame

But do you think he should?

Henri Kontinen and John Peers have been doing better than Jamie and Bruno of late yes, but overall the last couple of years with Bruno have certainly been really good. And who's to say what would have happened if the Jamie / John pair had continued. Jamie at least apparently sought a change and I rather doubt he regrets it.

Two slam titles and ATP #1 pair for last year. That's success !!

Got is undeniable that the signs are there that the partnership is stale and the other teams are figuring them out

Hmm, is that a thing that doubles partnerships get figured out?

JJR & Tecau are on a bit of a roll:  I see they've now gone on to beat Kontinen & Peers by 1-6 7-6(5) 7-5 to reach the final...

... where they'll play los López (Feliciano & Marc) (11), who beat the Bryans (5) in three!

Jamie & Bruno, down to live ranked 9 & 10 respectively, will fall further to 11 & 12 if Rojer & Tecau win the title ( they would fall just behind R & T ). Will stay 9 & 10 if los Lopez win the title ( although again be quite close ).

JJR & Tecau won practically at a canter - 4 & 3.  hmm

They seem to have really clicked again this week. Had seemed to be relatively slumbering for a little while but have stuck together.
